Try This Mobility Session to Help With Your Hips and Legs

By | May 6, 2020

While the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has halted the cadence of everyday life for just about everyone, the world is now beginning to adjust. We’re all handling the challenges of social distancing and self-isolation differently—but that doesn’t mean that we have to go it completely alone in every sense.

At Men’s Health, we’re using this period as an opportunity to build up our community and share as much useful, positive information as possible. For everyone stuck missing their typical workout routines with gyms and fitness centers closed down, we’ve done our best to provide as many at-home workout options as possible. But that’s just the start. We’re also hosting live workout sessions on Instagram with some of our favorite trainers to fill the fitness class-shaped void in your daily routine.

Dan Giordano, D.P.T. C.S.C.S., a Men’s Health Advisory Board member and practicing physical therapist, hosted the latest session from his New York City apartment.

Unfortunately, Giordano came to the session after an injury—he sustained a Grade 1 ankle sprain on a run recently—but that gave him an opportunity to work through his malady along with the audience. The sprain was light, but it still looked bad. “Within like 10 minutes, my ankle blew up to the size of a softball,” he said.

He designed the mobility session, then, to aim at the hips and lower legs to help him work through the sprain—but it’s really a full-body session that will work from your feet up to your shoulders. Just grab some space to stretch out, a mat for your back and knees, and get ready to work.
